Vocalist and songwriter Gabrielle Stravelli blends musical traditions with a modern, genre-bending sensibility. her tremendous swing feel and gift for lyric interpretation have led to a career defined by joyful performances and a deep connection with audiences. In march of 2025 gabrielle wrapped her fifth month-long residency leading her trio at birdland jazz club and made her debut at The jazz corner in hilton head, SC. in april gabrielle appeared at joe’s pub with fred hersch, kate mcgarry and rondi charleston to celebrate the release of “suspended in time”, a new recording featuring gabrielle and kate singing Fred’s music and rondi’s lyrics.
In 2024 Gabrielle made her Carnegie Hall debut with the New York Pops Orchestra and released her fifth album, Beautiful Moons Ago. she made debut appearances at scullers in boston, chris jazz cafe in philadelphia, the pheasantry in london and again headlined the 2024 delaware water gap cota jazz festival.
highlights of 2023 include HEADLINing THE 2023 cayman arts festival on grand cayman island, the 2023 COTA Jazz festival and appearing in the 92Y’s critically acclaimed Lyrics & Lyricists series alongside billy stritch. she toured chile performing in concert halls & jazz clubs.
the fall of 2022 brought her second collaboration with world-renowned jazz pianist fred hersch in his newest online masterclass for open studio “Just Friends: The Art of the duo.” she held a weekly residency at birdland jazz club in june & july 2022, opening a new tuesday @ 5:30pm time slot for the club. in september 2022 she sold out birdland’s main room with the new york debut of “mel & ella swing!”, her new show with pianist/singer billy stritch, and over the weekend of october 21-23, 2022 she sold out six headlining sets in the birdland theater with her own quintet.
she has toured the United States with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra performing his masterwork Abyssinian: A Gospel Celebration. She first worked with Fred Hersch in 2013, premiering his song cycle, Rooms of Light, at Montclair University PAC.
Since 2015 she has toured internationally with the “American Music Abroad” (AMA) program, performing and teaching throughout Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. In 2019, Gabrielle and her quintet headlined the Providencia Jazz Festival in Santiago, Chile, the Las Condes Jazz Festival and the 10th Annual Semana Internacional de Jazz en la Patagonia. She headlined the 2021 and 2018 Jazz on the Mountain Festival at the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, NY and has appeared at the 2019 Kota Kinabalu Music and Dance Festival in Malaysia, the 2016 Eleuthera All That Jazz Festival in the Bahamas, the 2013 Maree Sonore Festival in Venice and the 2013 Kastav Cultural in Croatia.
