For over 30 years, Rob Kapilow has brought the joy and wonder of music—and unraveled some of its mysteries—to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. This edition of What Makes It Great? focuses on the brilliance of two jazz giants: Oscar Peterson and Ella Fitzgerald.

Hosted by Kapilow and featuring vocalists Gabrielle Stravelli and Nia Drummond, pianist Joshua Richman, bassist Pat O’Leary and drummer Mark McLean, the group will explore jazz standards as originally written by the likes of George Gershwin and Harold Arlen and illustrate the ways in which Oscar and Ella transformed the music.
